A Pick-Me-Up for the Bride-To-Be
Dec 18, 2007 at 11:47AM Vintage Ad of the Day - Lipton Iced Tea from Woman's Day, August 1, 1949
Since it's my wedding day, I felt it appropriate to feature a vintage ad surrounding brides, weddings, matrimony. I love the comic strip format of this ad, and I know Budd will too, as he is an avid comics collector. I especially love the 4th box, with the 2 children getting spanked at the same time by their mother, while she orders the groom-to-be around. Makes me think of my mother, who was famous for multi-tasking in such a manner. And I never knew Lipton Iced Tea was such a great stimulator. I guess Lipton Tea of the 1940's was equivalent to Red Bull or other energy drinks of today.
And I also never knew that tea could make one feel "fresh as a buttercup" - I thought that was caused by other products we'll not mention here today, but I can assure you I have plenty of those ads queued up and ready to be posted for your amusement at a later date.

Fresh as a buttercup. Well now, that depends on whether you drink the tea or apply it somewheres else...
But, yeah, I dig the comic format. Sequential art sells, baby!
Now I just need to decide how sickened I am by that fact.
