This is an incredibly important issue, and those who have worked hard to get it to the forefront of Greensboro's leaders' minds should be highly commended. This can go a long way to helping solve the poverty problem right here in our own hometown.
Billy,
I calculate they would need 8438 signatures. How did you guys arrive at the 5000 figure?
Tony,
I don't know how that number came about. Are you basing your calculations on the population of Greensboro or the number of registered voters?
A valid petition is based on signatures amounting to 25% of the ballots cast in the most recent election.
According to the GCBOE website there were 33,752 ballots cast on Nov 6th. (25% being 8438) The required amount of signatures probably increased after the Nov 6th election.
Did the BOE accept the petitions today as announced on the petitioner's website?
Tony, I have no idea.
