eyeOS, Solution Or Problem?

I'm going to be replacing my desktop computer soon as my G-3 iMac is now over 10 years old and becoming difficult-- very difficult. While I love OS-X and wouldn't trade it for the world I can't afford a new computer so Budd has offered to give me his old PC which is a lot newer than my Mac.

A word of advice to people on buying computers: While I love my iMac I will never buy another desk-top computer with the monitor and CPU built into the same cabinet no matter who makes it. If I had a ten year old Mac with separate monitor and CPU I could solve my problem simply by replacing the monitor but with everything built into one box I'm stuck replacing everything at once.

As I'm not a fan of Microsoft products I've been considering an online operating system or browser based OS such as eyeOS or others that are currently being developed. Yes, I could go to a Unix based system like Linnix but I've already got that on my OLPC XO laptop and I'm finding it hard for me to adapt to. Yes, I've no doubt the problem is me.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone reading might already be using eyeOS or any other Web/browser based operating system and if so do you have any pointers for this old dinosaur?

Hi, i'm one of the eyeOS developers, I have reached this blog through eyeOS blog search.

I recommend you to try the new eyeOS 1.6 that will be released in beta status in 2 day (15 of this month) and in a production status 25 of this month.

You have to understand that this "web operating systems" are something closer to a virtual desktop, not a real operating system, and need some system running under the hood.
