Eve Hall, Children's Author And Poet

While readers from around the world are voting for the 2008 Poet Laureate of the Blogosphere I'd like for you to read this submission by Atlanta Georgia's, Eve Hall.

So Much Hate
By Eve Hall

Whites against Blacks
Daughters against mothers
Sons against fathers
Brothers against sisters.

Why so much hate?

Where is the love for one another
Where the morals and the guidance?
Where is the unity and peace?
Where is the security and brotherhood?

Where is this nation headed?

When will be united as one family
When will prejudice and racism be erased?
When will neighbor truly love his neighbor?
When will Martin L. King’s dream come true?

It starts with the golden rule,
“Loving others as you love yourself.”

How Poets Can Build Their Online Audiences

Here's 3 new ways you can build that audience of poetry lovers and perhaps sell a few books.

Post a few poems or articles to Discovery Place making sure you leave links to your blog or website so that others may find you. Team Blogsboro scouts Discovery Place and moves some of the submissions there to the other Blogsboro Network sites.

Allen of World Class Poetry has more great tips here and here.

These tips and more can be found at 10 Steps Plus Resources To Advertise Your Poetry.

Why Poets Should Become Bloggers

From a research paper by Tatu Henttonen of the Department of Translation Studies, University of Tampere, Finland.

"Blogs have proved to be a useful means of expression for poets. While poetry is experiencing a boom in Finland, the mass media concentrates on commercial authors and leaves little room for marginal movements. To counter this problem of visibility, blogs, along with other websites, offer a publicity niche for any style of poetry and writing. The audience for blogs is still relatively small compared to that of the traditional media, but the easy accessibility and reader potential mean that blogging will most likely continue and expand. It is worth noting that a large amount of information on Finnish poetry already lies only in the textual material of blogs, within easy reach of every Internet user. Thus blogs have become essential reading for everyone with a wide interest in poetry." Read the entire report.

And if by chance you're looking to begin blogging then I highly recommend Squarespace as Squarespace has some built in protections for your copyrights you simply have to switch on.

Maybe There's Hope For Poetry At Last

It's not every day when 70 million people take to watching poetry on TV. Perhaps it's time America's main stream media awakened?
