Ian Hartsoe, Environmental Portraiture
Haverhill, Mass is home to Ian Hartsoe, a 22 year old soon to be graduate of the New Hampshire Institute of Art in Manchester, New Hampshire with a degree in photography.
Ian prefers to work in film rather than digital and often shoots in black and white.
I've known Ian since back when he was afraid of the big bad wolf and didn't know what a camera was but today I'm sure Ian would want to snap a photo should he happen to run across a wolf on one of his many camping trips in the wilderness of Maine.
I was going to snag an example of Ian's work for you but was unable to, so why not check out IanHartsoe.com and look for yourself. Also, just minutes ago I got to look through many of Ian's photos that he has yet to upload to his website.
And Now For the Pictures!
Canada Discovers North American Poet Laureate Billy Jones
Our visit with Discovery Channel Canada was both informative and enjoyable. I know I for one dug the hell out of riding around downtown Greensboro, stopping here and there to engage in some guerrilla filmmaking. It was a learning experience for this aspiring auteur...
And I was able to get our own photographic record of what transpired. I winnowed my hundred or so photos down to these twelve, which I think tell the story quite nicely.
Thanks again to Lori Belanger, producer of the Daily Planet on Discovery Channel Canada and their fantastic cameraman, Ross MacIntosh.
Can You Name This Mountain?
Here's a tip: I found the picture here.
Must Be Happy
I've little doubt this guy is as happy as he can be.
Chris Meets Barack Obama
Yeah, I know it's his job and all but our local Emmy Award winning blogger, Chris Weaver, has some great pics of the 2008 Presidential candidate. Now if we could only get his bosses to let him shoot Yellow Dog when she returns to campaign in Greensboro.
The Little People Of London
My friend Beth is preparing to vacation in London, England soon so I thought I'd help her out by doing some research on what she might find there when to my surprise I discovered an entire community of little people who live, work and play alongside the normal sized people there. How this community has managed to avoid the main stream media for all there years can only be explained when you realize they're probably very hard to see.Life is hard for London's little people. For example, a crack in the road you might drive over every day can be a major obstacle when you're only a few inches tall.

This post has been made possible by StreetPlanes, which sadly, aren't available in little people sizes-- yet.

Vada Bostian: Fine Art Photography
I knew Vada's mother. But that was before Vada was born. Vada is a graduate of Guilford College and a mother who quickly grew tired of the portrait factory approach to photography and decided to go it on her own.
Vada is now the owner of Bostiva Fine Art Photography in Greensboro, NC. and also posts to Bostiva Fine Art Photography Blog.
