Yes-Weekly Covers Sloppy Winston-Salem Night Club Ordnance

When I started reading the article, W-S nightlife coalition seeks middle ground with city, by Yes-Weekly's Amy Kingsley I thought, What's so bad about this?

But that was before I got to the part about the lack of due process and the overreaching power given to the Winston-Salem city manager over bands and small business. You see, living in nearby Greensboro we know all too well how unchecked city managers tend to abuse their power and run-over the rights of the people. You see, in Greensboro the title, City Manager, is quickly becoming synonymous with Saddam.

You can sign the petition here and join their Facebook group for updates.

Back To Reidsville Lake

It was a great time to be had by all who attended the Reidsville Lake Music Festival yesterday but you don't have to take you word for it as folks like Andrea Sells will tell you the same.

In this first photo we have Bryan Church Smith, aka Songbear fiddling with Winston Salem's Andrea Reese. Andrea has a new CD coming out soon and I'll let you know how to get your hands on it as soon as it's released.

In this next photo you can see the Dane Corum Band from Eden, NC.

As an aside: I've heard of well water, spring water, creek water, stream water and pond water but bank water... How'd they do that?

Jeri Rowe On Songbear

"GREENSBORO — Bryan Smith is a familiar face along Slip 10.

Maybe you've seen him. He's the big guy over at The Depot who drives a city bus. He pulls his brown hair back into a short ponytail, has a music-note tattoo on his right bicep and goes by the nickname Songbear.

For good reason.

Twice a month or so, he steps into our more far-flung musical pit stops, with shorthand names like Cuzon's and The Flat, and plays an original mix of folk and country that digs into his own take on love and loss.

Yeah, he's our Ralph Kramden of local music." Read the rest

I'm happy to announce that BloggingPoet.com is a sponsor of the Reidsville Lake Music Festival which kicks off Friday night at the Flat Iron Tavern on Summit Avenue in Greensboro then moves to Reidsville Lake in Reidsville, North Carolina on Saturday morning. I'll be there and hope you will be too.

Listen to some of those who will be performing.
