Bigfoot –Fact of Folklore?
By Sunny J Reid
Everyone has heard of Bigfoot or Sasquatch at one time or another. This figure, by folklore, is alleged to live in the remote forests in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States and the Canadian province of British Columbia. But did you know that the Lakota Indians also recognized a huge manlike creature –they called it “Chiye-tanka” meaning “Big Elder Brother.”
It has been said that there have been eyewitness accounts of sightings of Bigfoot, not just in the United States and Canada, but also throughout other regions as well, such as Tibet, Nepal, China and Australia. Of course, each region has given its own name to the creature that they too state has humanoid features.
Scientist say that there is no scientific evidence of Bigfoot or Sasquatch. They doubt the evidence that has been presented: film photos and foot prints that have been presented, and chalk it up to folklore and/or hoaxes. They remarked that all evidence so far has been unreliable.
However, this legend still evokes curiosity and kindles the imagination. Hollywood is still making movies about Bigfoot.
I found one trailer on YouTube that was quite entertaining. Below I found a trailer and an article –compliments of: BIGFOOTBUBBA on YouTube.
“The Long Way Home: A Bigfoot Story and Bigfoot Movie Trailer"
Down-and-out former MIAMI HERALD reporter D.J. Galloway finds himself face down at his favorite watering hole in South Beach. Then out of nowhere, flashing across the T.V. is a breaking story about Bigfoot sightings in D.J. 's hometown of Indian Camp Mountain, N.C.
In a moment of clarity, D.J. decides to pack it up, move home, and report this story in an effort to resurrect his career, reconnect with his roots, and potentially reveal the greatest news story ever.
This full-length feature has it all: a big foot, of course, but also a character named "cornbread,” a snake handler, a drag queen, hundreds of dead chickens, and the real salt of the earth, Southern locals who add a unique, gritty charm to a film you will be hard pressed to forget.”
A man known as "Bugs" was on this show and was talking about how he and his friend shot two creatures that looked like enormous deformed human beings.
“The "Bugs" Affair: "Bugs" Texas Bigfoot Carcasses
This is the "Bugs Story," it allegedly took place in January of 1976; it is about the shooting of two Bigfoots and their burial on Elm Creek in Collingsworth County, a region in the Texas Panhandle area, by a man identified only as "Bugs" and two of his hunting friends.
This is a whopper Texas-size story. Is it true, or the most preposterous story ever told?
Listen to Art Bell and Robert W. Morgan and Bugs relate the killing and burial of a Texas bigfoot:”
That site provides ten YouTube recordings and a write up. It is excellent. BigFootEncounters.com
This is an excellent source to check for those interested and see what they have found out about Bigfoot. They have several videos and photos they’ve taken. This is a great source of information. Project Bigfoot
Fact or folklore? I’ve read and viewed much more than I’ve talked about on this forum. I won’t rule out the possibility that there is a large humanlike creature out there –anything is possible. I think I’ll wait for either the scientific evidence or a verdict, be that as it may, to come in on the creatures that Bugs, from Texas, shot.
