How To Become A Better Poet

I'm not telling you I can make you a better poet-- I can't. But there is one tried and true way to become a better poet and that is to read and write a lot of poetry. Only problem is, sometimes you just can't seem to find the motivation. On that I can help.

Step 1. Pick a time everyday to write a poem or two or a dozen depending on how much time you have and find something to write about.

Step 2. Sometimes it's hard to find something to write about but thanks to the Internet that isn't a problem as the following links are to sites that provide writer's prompts.

Totally Optional Prompts
Read Write Poem
Writers Island
Cafe Writing
Poetfusion

Know of others? Send them to idleblogs (AT) yahoo.com and I'll add them to the list.

Also, don't forget nominations for the 2008 Poet Laureate of the Blogosphere begin tomorrow, April 1st.
