No, this isn't another of my rants against the Greensboro City Council. Today I'm writing about the good kind of chickens.
For starters: Every chicken in the world is threatened to die because of
CCD. And if you don't care about chickens please allow me to remind you that every living thing including politicians and rich billionaires will die if CCD continues to spread.
On the local front an army of strong young chicken fighters has gathered in support of allowing
Amy's chickens to return to their castle in the Greene Kingdom. Long live Eleanor and Dolly, the glorious first ladies they are. Meanwhile Amy gets coverage on
News 14. One chicken fighter was heard to crow, "We'll flog them and peck their eyes out until they see the truth!"
Speaking of glorious, my Gloria still hasn't laid an egg. Neither has BB but Elizabeth is sitting in the nest as I type and I'm expecting a fresh egg to go with my oatmeal.
In other good news,
Deep Roots Market has come out openly in favor of backyard chicken farmers and is offering the fruits and vegetables normally tossed into the garbage to backyard chicken farmers and gardeners for free. 3 cheers for Deep Roots!
When Johnny comes marching home again, hurrah, hurrah! We'll serve him eggs fresh from the hen, hurrah, hurrah! Fresh veggies grown in our back yards, we'll treat him to for fighting hard...

About CCD - I talked a beekeeper recently who has hives about an hour north of here. I asked her if she'd lost any of them and she said no - She told me as long as you don't move your hives and there are no pesicides being used within flying range, you won't have any problems.
I suspect she's right.
