I think I figured out a way to kill Web 2.0 once and for all.
Tina and I had a conversation today. For the longest time I've had this crazy idea that Web 3.0 should pay not only those who create content but those who consume that content. You know, those who read and view the content. I mean, if you're forced to see advertising seems like you ought to get something for it, right?
See, I told you it was a crazy idea but as it turns out there just might be a way to pay at least part of those people who read the
Blogsboro Network sites.
No, it won't be a fortune. Fact is: In the beginning it will be a pittance but if we can work out all the ifs, ands and buts there just might be a way. Now that I've taken on
partners I'll have to get their approval so for the time being let's just say I'm thinking out loud.
Not every reader will get paid. The persons who stop in one time and never return won't get paid but if this works many of you will eventually earn income from the Blogsboro Network. And the best part is: that will allow us to take on more partners and pay those partners to create more content you can get paid to read. You know, the
Blogsboro Dream.
Yeah, I know there's some holes in this plan and I can't really tell you all about how we're going to make it work (not yet, anyway) but I think it can be done which means Blogsboro.com will lead the way to Web 3.0 and the death of Web 2.0 sharecropping.
Stay tuned as it might start happening soon.

Well, I, for one, am interested in learning more about this Web 3.0 thingee, Billy, but first I'd need to know what's up with the Web 2.0 thingee? I've seen many references to Web 2.0 but never delved into it because I didn't know what it was, other than some techie platform that was way above my pay scal.. hEAD, oK? But now you're telling me there's a WEB 3.0, Billy? Is there a Web 4.0, Web 5.0, or a Web Staircase to Heaven, too?
This chick has a definite need-to-know Curiosity Scale that's registering 90 percent right now, thank you very much!
Janet,
Web 2.0 is a phrase made up to describe the economic rebirth of Internet commerce after the Dot Com Bust of 2000-2001, nothing more. In other words it's slick marketing and has nothing to do with technology other than the fact that it requires technology to make it work.
The sad part of Web 2.0 is that "publishers" are relying on "user generated content" upon which to build vast fortunes while paying nothing to those who create that content.
Content is the only thing of value to any publisher in any medium, sadly millions upon millions of people have gotten caught up in Web 2.0 "social networking" and are now giving away billions of dollars worth of content that publishers used to have to pay writers to write.
A small resistance movement is growing in hopes of ending this modern day form of Internet sharecropping and myself and a few others are calling this movement Web 3.0.
Of course there are "marketing gurus" out there who are also touting the term Web 3.0 to describe their own attempts at Internet sharecropping but all there doing is Web 2.0 with a new name.
Fact is: The biggest hurdle myself and other genuine Web 3.0 backers face is in convincing our readers that we aren't simply doing the same thing as the "Web 2.0 Publishers." That's why the Blogsboro Network is made up of partners with each of us having only 1 vote as to how our network will be managed.
