Cast Your Ballots Please

It's now time to cast your votes for the 2008 Poet Laureate of The Blogosphere. Sadly, not everyone who was nominated was actually eligible. Most who couldn't be accepted failed to meet Rule #1. Several others simply couldn't be found and at least one nominated blog appeared to be dead. This is especially sad for me as several I consider my friends.

The following persons are qualified to become the 2008 Poet Laureate of the Blogosphere. At the bottom of this list you may cast your ballot.

Bill Knott
Rethabile Masilo
Sue Turner
Leonard Blumfeld
Tiel Aisha Ansari
Michael Wells
Melanie Bishop
Steve Caratzas
Jodi Herman
Steven Schroeder
Rob McLennan
Dale Favier
Levari
R.K.SINGH
Montgomery Maxton
Helen Losse
Reginald Shepherd
Tony Trigilio
Gautami Tripathy
Jay Sizemore
James Steerforth
Tony Brown

How about "None of the Above"? why do we even NEED this pseudo-award?

Apr 24, 2008 at 09:52AM | Unregistered CommenterGreg

Greg,
The only reason for this award is to make people aware of more relatively unknown poets than they may already know and as far as I'm concerned that is reason enough. I'm sure previous winners and every nominee from every year thus far will agree this is a good thing.

Most of these poets will never get the recognition they deserve and while I can't completely cure this illness I can help ease the symptoms a little bit.

If you have a problem with more exposure for more great poets then I'm sorry you feel that way.

Melanie needs more votes. I love your poetry, Melanie. Billy...I have been nose deep in the sonnet a day thing for national poetry month, but I love coming here and hanging out and catching up. You really should be the Poet Laureate. I know you host it, I'm just saying... What you have done and continue to do for the writing/poetry/blogging community is wonderful --and so entertaining! One more week to go with this challenge and then I will come back here more regularly. *Muah* - Ali

Yes, Billy, next year I think the poet laureate should host the election so you can hold the mantle...but then Talleyrand would say that it is a far finer thing to be a king maker than a king (or a queen, as the case may be.)

All Best,
Levari
