Another Year, Another Christmas At BloggingPoet.com
Dec 25, 2007 at 08:37PM
With the end of the 2007 BloggingPoet.com 33 Days of Christmas and the new year approaching rapidly I thought I'd take this chance to tell you of some of our plans for BloggingPoet.com, Blogsboro.com and the rest of the Blogsboro Network.
For starters, we now have 4 writers here at Blogsboro.com. Our most recent is Verona Botsford of VeronaBotsford.com. Then there's our resident newlyweds, Tina and Budd Wilkins of JazzzyTina.com and BuddsView.com. Soon we will be adding one more.
On our front page, Blogsboro.com, we will primarily highlight lots of artists, musicians, poets, novelists and other creative folk as well as businesses we think cool. Budd, Tina, Verona, myself and our 5th will all contribute articles to the front page as well as our own personal journals. We'll also be featuring folks who are not part of our team on our personal journals with each writer determining his or her own tone and voice. You can expect to see anything here at Blogsboro.com because our lives and interests are all very different.
If you're the creative sort and would like to be featured by the Blogsboro staff then get in touch with myself or anyone on the team and we'll see what we can do. We're not a big name online property but with over 60,000 readers it wouldn't hurt for you to be mentioned on our pages. We might be able to help even if you don't have an online presence but if you'd like a website CreativeScamper.com can help you with that as well. Yes, Tina will have to bill you for building a website but getting featured on any Blogsboro website is always free.
For those who might have missed it, we are now accepting nominations for the 2007 Idle Handy Awards. This is a very unique award with a history that goes back several years. Voting will begin in January so get those nominations in ASAP and stay tuned to see who this year's winner will be.
In April we'll be hosting the 4th. Poet Laureate of The Blogosphere. This is the only laureateship in the world in which the public has a voice in who will be chosen. Previous winners are Jilly Dybka, Ron Silliman and Amy King. There's no crown, no gala events and unless someone with deep and generous pockets surprises us there will be no money but if the last 3 years are any indication the competition will be fierce. Just as in previous years I declare myself ineligible because I'm managing the contest.
The team is considering lots of ideas and directions for Blogsboro to go. Because I now have partners we must decide jointly what our goals will be but here's some of the ideas we're considering.
1. Becoming a worldwide print publisher of books and magazines with franchises and wholesale distribution.
2. Adding partners from around the world.
3. Starting a nonprofit arm to work towards making the world a better place.
4. Starting an online indie book, art and music store.
5. Starting a brick and mortar indie book, art and music store(s).
6. Online radio and video (The platform is being built by our hosting provider even if we don't use it.)
7. More children's projects.
8. An indie poetry, art and music festival (Perhaps your town would like to host it as mine isn't interested in bringing in the real creative class from around the world.)
9. Taking Blogsboro out of the virtural and into the real world.
10. Our own unique apparel line and products available no where else in the world.
Of course, these are mostly my dreams and I'm only one person on the team. Others have their own dreams and the team will decide what becomes reality and what happens first. It's taken me years and years to put together the online toolbox but I now have all the tools I could ever want to work with. Each new partner brings new skills and new ideas, skills and ideas that will be put to use. Unlike Web-2.0, Blogsboro is not an Internet sharecropping scheme. If Blogsboro profits the entire team profits as we intend to lead the way into Web 3.0 and a new beginning for Internet users everywhere.
If you'd like to help us achieve our goal of building not only our own futures but the futures of so many more you can help by installing and using the free Blogboro Toolbar. If you'd like to know of other ways you can help make the Blogsboro Dream come true... Well that was the link. Thank you -Billy
