The City Of Greensboro Needs To Know
Feb 7, 2007 at 06:11PM
Here's a simple invention that's been a long time coming.
The footpull is a simple way to save millions of dollars annually in health care costs. It should be mandatory that every public restroom in the world with doors that open to the inside of the restroom install the Footpull-- a simple device that allows users to open the door with their foot and not their hands. Did you know most every public restroom has door knobs contaminated with feces? "Amazingly, almost 30% of women and 40% of men do not wash their hands after using public restrooms and that figure increases with children."
Local, state, and Federal governments should be acting to protect citizens from unnecessary diseases and I've no doubt this is one of the most cost effective ways in which they can accomplish that goal. All public restrooms should be required to install Footpulls. And if I were the owner of a building that is accessable by the general public I would be delighted to show my customers I take an interest in their health and well being.

Although I don't doubt those statistics one bit, who would admit such a horrible thing.
Good question, Beth. I've seen so many men walk out of restrooms without washing their hands I'm surprised to learn they had mothers.
