ReviewMe.com Still In Arrears
Jan 5, 2007 at 02:47PM
Update: February 7, 2007
ReviewMe.com paid me in-full today. As most everyone else was paid on time the problem was apparently a technical glitch. Anyway, problem solved and no hard feelings on my part.
And bloggers are still taking it up the rear.
I first wrote about ReviewMe.com back on November 15th. Big name bloggers everywhere were shouting what a wonderful opportunity this would be for even the lowliest bloggers on the planet. Write a review, post it to your blog, disclose the fact you are being paid to write that review and all would be fine and dandy. I ended that post by saying, "In a month or so I'll follow up and let you know how it works out."
Reviewme.com promised to pay me for that first review on December 4th, 2006 but on December 22nd. the money had never been sent to my Paypal account. I expressed my concerns that same day and one of the commenters was none other than Patrick Gavin one of the owners of ReviewMe.com. His exact words, "Hello, sorry about this issue. I assure you everyone who should be paid will be paid by Reviewme.com Please email support (at) reviewme.com and I will make sure these requests are taken care of asap, thx! Patrick"
I wondered why Mister Gavin couldn't simply pick up the phone or send an e-mail to whoever is responsible for sending out PayPal payments but I followed Mister Gavin's instructions, sent an e-mail to support (at) reviewme.com and waited. And waited. And waited...
Finally, on Janurary 2nd. I got the following e-mail:
"Hi Billy,
- If you opted to be paid by PayPal, please ensure the correct
email
address has been entered.
- If you opted to be paid by PayPal, please ensure the correct
mailing
address has been entered.
- We will only send payment on months where the balance owed is greater
than $25 USD.
Thanks,
ReviewMe Support

Well, at least I know someone got my e-mail, I wonder why the part about my e-mail address was entered twice, I better login for the hundredth time and check it. So I go to ReviewMe.com. login and click on "View Payments" where I find: Pay Period November 2006, Earning Amount $50.00, Payment Date _________ Check Amount $50.00.
Then I click on "Edit Your Account" where I find e-mail notifications are set to "Y" e-mail address, social security number, PayPal address... Wait a minute, how did my name get in the line where the PayPal address goes? Anyway, I corrected my paypal address and clicked "update."
In the meantime I keep checking out the ReviewMe Blog last updated on November 21st. and the ReviewMe MySpace blog last updated on December 7th. (I'm writing this in advance with plans to post it later.) and it appears both blogs have been abandoned. Has Review-Me-Roy skipped town?
So I start doing a little research on ReviewMe.com. Turns out it's the brainchild of Patrick Gavin and Andy Hagans. Where have I heard those names? Oh yeah, Text Link Ads. Turns out Text Link Ads and ReviewMe.com are one in the same company. Meanwhile the Blogosphere is filled with raves for ReviewMe.com and then I find this: Patrick Gavin is in Bed with Both PayPerPost and ReviewMe.
Well, at least PayPerPost.com has been in the habit of paying me what they owe me and they'll remain on my list of Advertisers Who Pay Their Bills. Too bad I'm still forced to keep ReviewMe.com on my list of Advertisers Who Never Paid Me A Dime. Am I the only blogger ReviewMe.com has failed to pay?
Payment date is said to be no later than the 4th, I corrected my Paypal address on the 2nd., the 50.00 payout is above their 25.00 minimum and it's now the 5th of January and I'm still waiting on my November payment-- what gives, Mister Gavin? What's the problem, Mister Hagans? How many more months will the 15,000 readers of BloggingPoet.com continue to read about your mistakes?
Note: On December 23rd. I announced I would be ending all pay to post affiliations as of that same day and have since updated my disclosure policy. From now own the only advertisements in the content of my blog posts will be for my own business efforts or my books
with an exception for my Shoppes Blog which is a free effort to highlight The Long Tail of books, art, and music.

Sucks to hear your troubles. On the other hand, I've used ReviewMe with 4 reviews and have gotten paid each time.
