Donations Wanted, But Not Money
Aug 12, 2006 at 08:58AM
A year or so ago I began asking my readers to send me those free AOL CDs for an environmental art project. Several readers responded by sending me the CDs they had accumulated. One reader, Erin, even went so far as to buy a box full on e-bay and send them to me. Vickie has sent them to me on several occasions as well. There were others but I don't know if they have websites or blogs I can plug.
My original plan was to build a huge tree entirely from AOL CDs. That plan evolved into a replica of Noah's Arc but with the recent invention of StreetPlanes by my "brother with no name" and I, we've decided we want to build a flying saucer StreetPlane from those free CDs you get from AOL and other Internet companies. Please send them to:
Billy Jones
2509 Textile Drive
Greensboro, North Carolina
27405
And please choose the cheapest means possible. (I think CDs can qualify for a media discount or something of that nature should you use the postal service.) And should we get enough we'll build another space ship.
Look, I'm not a hacker trying to scam AOL, send them to me scratched, cracked, or broken if you don't believe me, but please send me those free CDs so that we can build a vehicle that gets in excess of 100 miles per gallon of gasoline and is street legal in all 50 US states.
Lastly, if you've any info on gluing and bonding I'd love to know it. I just ordered a free sample of Amazing Goop from AmazingGoop.com but any info on gluing and bonding would be greatly appreciated as we don't want to break-up on take-off or reentry. And thanks to all who help by spreading the word or sending those CDs.
Update: I've decided that since AOL will no longer be producing their CDs, that any CD will do.

Have I told you how amused I am that our house numbers are the same?
Will you accept non-Internet CDs, such as worn-out music discs, bad burn attempts, and such?
