It’s Not About Terrorism, Fool!
Feb 22, 2006 at 09:40PM
I’m really surprised at how many people simply don’t understand the biggest danger that the acquisition of US ports by companies belonging to foreign governments will bring. For starters: In the United States of America it is illegal for our governments be they Federal, state, or local, to compete with private industry. So why is it we’re allowing a foreign government to compete with private industry?
You see, it’s not really about terrorism, it’s about something far worse.
What could be worse than terrorism? How about the following scenario: Company A drills for the oil then ships that oil through a port owned by company B. It just so happens that company B is owned by company A.
Next, that oil is loaded onto a tanker ship owned by company C. Who owns company C? Why, company A of course.
Then the tanker owned by company C sets sail half way around the world to another port owned by-- you guessed it, company A.
Next our oil is transported by truck, train, and pipeline owned by companies D, E, and F. Who owns D, E, and F? That’s right, company A owns all of them.
Can you say world domination through monopolizing the pumping, storage, and transportation of the world’s most valuable and increasingly scarce commodity-- oil?
Are we beginning to understand?
Now lets look at the facts: Company A is the Government of Dubai-- a sandy little beach somewhere in the Middle East-- but it wouldn’t matter if Dubai was a county in Florida as the scenario would be the same. Company A is also known as DP World. Company A is attempting to buy P&O Ports-- currently the sixth largest port operator in the world with operations in over 100 countries world wide including every port in North America. Don’t be fooled by media reports of only 6 east coast ports being involved, P&O Ports, AKA: Company B has operations in EVERY US and Canadian port as well as most ports throughout Mexico, Central, and South America.
Lest I forget, P&O is huge throughout Europe and Asia-- enough so that citizens of Europe and Asia should be aware as well. (This interactive map shows P&O ports on every continent.)
P&O is also the owner of Princess Cruises, Carnival Cruise Lines, about a dozen other cruise lines, more ferry companies than I can count, a fleet of container ships, bulk ore ships, and dozens of oil tankers. P&O also owns one of the largest railroad, trucking, and logistics companies in the United States. You probably know them as CSX.
CSX also owns some high tech companies whose business I can’t even fathom, but then I do bill myself as a poet and not a scientist.
CSX also delivers gasoline and ethanol to the Northeastern and Midwestern United States through what they call their “Virtual Pipeline” and may be involved in the pipeline business as well. (CSX previously sold their pipelines to the French oil giant, Total Oil but may well have interests in other pipelines.)
P&O provides ships, weapons, patrol boats, Garrison Support Services, and other Defence Maritime Services to Australia and other countries, and operates airports in Australia through Serco Australia Pty Ltd.
P&O manages the infamous Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia. You know, the luxury motel way back in the mountains where Dick Cheney was assumed to be hiding in an underground concrete bunker in an “undisclosed location” a few years ago. P&O also operates dozens of exclusive resorts all over the United States, Australia, and the rest of the world including the soon to open 1 million acre El Questro Wilderness Resort in Western Australia. (Hey Downunder, are you Mates ready to give 1 million acres of your land to the government of Daubi?)
Since 1997, P&O has sold over £1bn (1.74 Billion US. Dollars) of property in the UK, Europe and US.
P&O provides PNG (natural gas?) services to Papua New Guinea.
This was the result of about an hour spent browsing through search engines-- there were literally hundreds of useful linksbut I found so many I couldn’t bother to set up hyperlinks I've since added some of the links I found. I’m sure I could come up with lots more if given a couple of days to do it. The point is: The economy of the entire world appears to be about to be handed over to the government of one little country. It’s not about terrorism, it’s not about prejudice, “it’s the economy, stupid.”
Is thIs how we want the world to be run?

If they can't get all the facts in thirty-second sound bites or the 'in-depth' coverage provided by Fox Network, wedged in between Bill Reilly's scintillating social commentary and Dr. James Dobson's sanctimonious diatribe regarding the proper way to indoct-- er, I mean, raise our kids, it's simply not pertinent. "No-spin zone", my ass.
Thanks for trying, anyway.
What amazed me is how easy the info was to come by. THe companies involved have dozens of websites stating how proud they are to be doing all these things and yet no one from the media or even the other blogs seems to understand.
This material the first thing I've seen that I believe begins to answer... With your permission: I'd like to link this page to my Blog. Let me know.

Very interesting. In anticipation of the detractors can you list some of your sources? I'd also like to do some reading that will get my blood flowing in preparation for going to the gym.
What frustrates me about this story is that the people who are all excitied over it are missing it altogether. It isn't that "the Arabs" are taking over our ports, though one could certainly question how close we want the UAE to get to us. It's the fact that Bush has to continue paying back, paying back, paying back those who spent gazillions putting him in office.
