Update: Sunday, Dec 24th. Because I screwed up and lost Stone's submission I thought it only fair I place
I Killed Santa at the top of the post.... Sorry Stone.
I knew exactly how I was going to write the Christmas edition of a combined Ringing Of The Bards and Tarheel Tavern. Yes, I had one of my creative little stories all worked out, all fun and games, the usual Billy The Blogging Poet style. That is, until Colonel Corn threw me a curve with his post,
Thoughts About Peter You see, Peter is Kenneth Corn's five year old son and Peter is not well. Please read Peter's story and send hope in whatever way you practice hope.
For those who mat not know, the
Ringing Of The Bards is a poetry carnival that is available to English language poets from around the world.
The Tarheel Tavern is a carnival open to bloggers from throughout North Carolina. As both are in dire need of hosts and because I predicted this to be a light weekend I volunteered to host both together as one. Personally I love hosting these carnivals and would gladly do both every weekend if it were not for the fact that the carnivals would become stale if they kept the same host every week. Please consider hosting a carnival, preferably one of these two carnivals.
I knew Terry McDermott before he took poetry seriously and remember when the Arkansas native complained he couldn't write poetry. Sometimes things change and Terry is proof as he submits a Nonet titled,
Reindeer Sing Noel. Did you know Terry started writing poetry expressly for his daughter?
Next up, Bora is asking for a present of sorts with his post
Help me put together The Anthology of the Best Science Blogging! Have no doubt this is a worthy cause and I hope you can help Bora in his quest.
Erin rings in with her poem,
They're Naked and Empty. The holidays are hard when you're dealing with the losses Erin has dealt with.
Laura sends us a video
Christmas carol I know you'll love.
Miss Richardson sends us her poem
Fairy Sleep. I think you'll like what you find there.
Jane Peppler sends us picturers of some unusual left coast
Christmas decorations with a link to more.
Jo Janoski sends us a group of poems she collectively titles,
A Holiday Gift of Poetry. As always, her work is great and I enjoyed reading the trio again this year. In case anyone is interested it was Jo who helped me to edit
The Reindeer Shoe a few years ago, which is online for its last year as it now has a publishing contract.
Laurie sends us her list of
Festivus Grievances. In case you're wondering, Laurie is one of several friends who observe the "festival for the rest of us."
Dan sends us a poem for those of us who may be dreaming of a white Christmas but
The Snow That Never Stops might not be exactly as it seems at first glance.
And finally, from Justin Thibault we get
a Christmas card. I have to admit little Palmer makes a mighty fine baby Santa there Justin. And the new blog is looking mighty fine as well.
Thank you, Merry Christmas, happy holidaze and all that jazz to all who contribute to and support
The Tarheel Tavern and the
Ringing Of The Bards.

Billy,
I'm sorry I messed up your plans. Thanks for putting up with me and my post. I don't think I've ever made the top of the list before. Wow.
Hope you have a Merry Christmas.
Thanks for hosting the Tavern, Billy!
Thanks for hosting, and Merry Christmas!
Kenneth, you didn't mess anything up you simply gave some real value to the carnival and deserved to be at the top.
Hey! Thanks Billy - great job (and at such a busy time of year....). I really DON'T deserve to be at the top of this Ringing. Please bump me lower down!
Happy hols to one and all,
stone.
Again, thanks for hosting, Billy!
