Michael's Corner
Jul 8, 2005 at 10:16PM Highlighting Blogsboros Best-- Part 19
Michael Christopher hasnt always lived in Blogsboro. Michael grew up in Denver, Colorado, has lived in Buffalo, New York, and only moved here a few years ago but Michael has managed to make himself at home here in the Southland just as he has made himself a valuable citizen of the Blogsboro community.
Michael describes his blog, Michael’s Corner this way: The personal journal of an over 50 post middle-age-crisis American male whose move to Greensboro, North Carolina has brought him a love for the South, an appreciation for warm winters, a definite opinion about 'que, an attraction to two collegiate shades of blue, and a wonder at the power of the written word.
Id say he sells himself short. And for those readers who might not be familiar with the Southland, que is short for Barbecue-- a subject that many Southerners disagree upon, but always agree that Barbecue, or que, is a noun and not a verb as it is often wrongly used in other parts of the country. Its only when one has a definite opinion about que that we Southerners accept that person as being fully acclimated in the Southern way of life. Congratulations, Michael, youre one of us now.
Whether its a post about his wife of 25 years, his dad, a conversation with a son about having not done his homework, or his thoughts on an old movie you can easily see that the man in the corner is someone youd like to know, and because I have the pleasure of knowing Michael I can promise you the man in the corner is the man youll meet if you ever get the chance.
A self described dyed-in-the-wool liberal Christian whose profession is raising funds for a private school, Michael-- like so many in Blogsboro-- is a rational voice in a less than rational world. Michael is a classically trained musician who brings that same necessary dedication required of musicians to everything he does and is a peacemaker who extends the olive branch rather than trying to hit one with a limb. He brings to our discussions strong ideas and patience that those like me are so often lacking.
And we in Blogsboro are lucky to have him.
